Des has 40 years’ experience in the insurance sector worldwide. Des Joined Combined Insurance [AON] then (ACE Insurance) in 1983 and quickly rose through the ranks on the back of his excellent leadership ability and developed what has become his hallmark – training and staff development.
Des has held executive management roles in Australia, Germany and the United States of America. Vice President General Manager Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Poland. Executive Vice President USA managing a Billion Dollar Company.

Mike Barnes
Director of Compliance
Mike has over 40 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He joined Combined Insurance [AON] then (ACE Insurance) in January 1980 and quickly rose through the ranks, due to his excellent management abilities.
Mike has held executive management roles in Australia, Germany (Berlin) and New Zealand (Auckland).
Mike’s Moto has always been “All for One and One for All” helping people succeed is very rewarding regardless of the personal benefits.
Sphere Responsibilities Include: Mike is currently the Responsible Manager for Sphere Insurance as well as being the Compliance and Complaints Manager, Business Planning, Business Strategy, Conventions
Karl Shepard
Director of Learning & Foreign Insurers
A former teacher, Karl has over 25 years of experience in the Insurance Industry. He commenced with Combined Insurance [AON] then [ACE Insurance] as an advisor in 1995 with a strength in learning and development.
He was the State Manager for Queensland and has held executive roles as Vice President and Head of Leadership Development – Australia and New Zealand.

Peter Marten
Director of Broker Development and Finance
Peter holds a double PHD in Mathematics and Computing spending 9 years as a computer engineer contracted to the Australian Defence Force, before setting up a large Company supplying goods to Bunnings for 15 years.
Peter holds a Tier 1 in Insurance Broking and has over 13 years Insurance Industry experience.
Sphere Responsibilities Include: Head of IT, Product Support, Business Planning, Business Strategy, Developing relationships with industry providers.
